Venipuncture & Phlebotomy for CNAs, MAs & Nurses
Our 1 day phlebotomy training workshop is for licensed Certified Nursing Assistants, Nurses, Medical Assistants and Phlebotomists in primary care, the community, hospitals and/or nursing homes. The course includes a practical session and is designed to provide you with both theory and practice. Our phlebotomy training course will give you the confidence and the competence to take blood samples safely and reliably.
Healthcare professions who hold active licenses and complete our Phlebotomy Workshop are eligible to take the phlebotomy certifcation examination and receive a national certification that is valid for two years.

-Supervision and practice

-Professional and legal issues
-What is Phlebotomy?
-Needles and patient safety
-Blood collection systems and devices
-Anatomy and physiology
-Vein assessment and selection:
-Identification of veins
-Unacceptable sites for venous collection
-Specimen collection procedures
-Post phlebotomy: specimen handling
-Personal protective equipment
-Needle stick injuries
-Potential complications (including infection control)
-Practical application – techniques and troubleshooting

Rather you desire to improve your phlebotomy skills or want to become a certified phlebotomist, Florida Training Academy is here to help you achieve your goals.
In order to register for our Phlebotomy training workshop, you must have a high school diploma or GED, hold a current healthcare related license and have an active BLS & Bloodborne Pathogens certification. If you do not meet the above requirements, we offer the required courses at our training facility. Contact us for details.
The cost is only $200 and includes your manual plus all of the supplies you will need during class. The cost of the examination for National Phlebotomy certification is an additional $135.
Note: You will need proof of 50 successful venipunctures in order to take the national examination. You will not meet this requirement in a 1 day class. Therefore, we highly recommend that only medical professionals take our course.
Certification classes do not confer a diploma, degree or college credit.
